Zusammenfassung

The Internet of Things (IoT) presents a novel computingarchitecture for data management: a distributed, highlydynamic, and heterogeneous environment of massive scale.Applications for the IoT introduce new challenges for inte-grating the concepts of fog and cloud computing as well assensor networks in one unified environment. In this paper,we highlight these major challenges and outline how existingsystems handle them. To address these challenges, we intro-duce the NebulaStream platform, a general purpose, end-to-end data management system for the IoT. NebulaStreamaddresses the heterogeneity and distribution of compute anddata, supports diverse data and programming models goingbeyond relational algebra, deals with potentially unreliablecommunication, and enables constant evolution under con-tinuous operation. In our evaluation, we demonstrate theeffectiveness of our approach by providing early results onpartial aspects.
