Cluster for Industry 4.0: Methodology for System Integration

Cluster for Industry 4.0: Methodology for System Integration

Application fields

The project addresses the issue of system integration and the creation of a unified and flexible software architecture for adaptable manufacturing systems using a service oriented paradigm – the Cluster 4.0 Integration Platform (C4IP). It will be an extension of the first commercially available basic platforms and explore a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), allowing to add specific modules to the basic platforms easily. These service providing modules are expected to support system integration. They might be aimed at e.g. ontology knowledge exploration, simulation and modelling. The platform will leverage an additional layer of abstraction providing data-models for the description of manufacturing components and a knowledge-base capturing the expert knowledge about relations between the components.
