Smart Service Engineering

Smart Service Engineering (SSE) led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Maaß investigates how data-driven and adaptive systems can contribute to the development of intelligent services. We intend to combine artificial intelligence (AI) and business design in such a way that sustainable, adaptive, and user-oriented services are created.

  1. How can data and artificial intelligence be used to support people's lives and promote their health, self-determination, and quality of life?

  2. How can companies develop new forms of value creation and innovation through the targeted use of data and artificial intelligence?

  3. How can artificial intelligence systems be designed to be energy-efficient, trustworthy, economically viable, and contribute to sustainable digital transformation?

Our research focuses on:

  • Personalized AI systems
  • Sustainable AI infrastructures
  • Decision support through data-based systems
  • Conceptual modeling and AI engineering

The research department Smart Service Engineering thus combines technological excellence with business relevance. Objective is to develop human-centered, explainable, and sustainable AI systems that promote innovation and social progress.
