Production Island_PHUKET 2.0

Production Island_PHUKET 2.0 is the key element of the model factory developed by SmartFactory-KL and DFKI IFS (Innovative Factory Systems). The Production Island merges the two systems, _Phuket and _KUBA, creating a flexible environment for modern manufacturing scenarios, demonstrated by the individually configurable model truck. 

The system showcases flexible, cross-vendor, and interoperable production. Its foundation is the Open SmartFactory Architecture, which acts as a blueprint for the smart factory. In _PHUKET2.0, industry-based cross-vendor hardware and software solutions are integrated and tested in interaction—from the OT level with field devices and robots, through an internal multi-agent system for skill-based control, to the SmartFactory-KL Corporate Data Space serving as a data repository for production and product data, as well as for connecting existing applications. 

When it comes to interfaces and protocols, SmartFactory-KL consistently relies on established community standards, including OPC UA and the management shell. This enables components from member companies to be integrated efficiently and combined flexibly. 

Thus, _PHUKET2.0 enhances the model factory with a new dimension of matrix production: production orders can be managed dynamically, processes can be adapted to the situation, and multiple customer-specific orders for the model truck can be produced simultaneously. At the same time, production remains responsive even during disruptions. In this way, the model factory shows how products can move through manufacturing in a self-directed manner within an intelligently connected production environment.
