Smart Data Forum

Expertise and innovation from Smart Data

Expertise and innovation from Smart Data

  • Duration:

From September 2015 until August 2019 Smart Data Forum connected users and developers of Smart Data technologies in Germany with the professional community both nationally and internationally and supported small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within their digitalization process. For this purpose, we provided an overview of the technology programs funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), offered guidance and education tailored to the needs of the SMEs and organized events with international stakeholders.

Main activities

At our showroom in Berlin we presented current Smart Data innovations with the help of interactive demonstrators. Our exhibition space at Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institute (HHI) in Berlin offered a platform for networking and enhanced the visibility of the latest innovations in the field of Smart Data. On national roadshows we reached out to SMEs directly to inform them about public funding opportunities, digital solutions that can be employed within their businesses, as well as invite them to join our free training on data analysis. The website provided an overview of all these resources and offered an illustrative, well-organized knowledge pool of Smart Data applications, technologies and governance topics. Another mission was to foster international partnerships on digital future topics as well as collaboration and exchange between experts. On international roadshows we connected German scientists, startups and flagship projects from BMWi technology programs with international researchers, investors, policy makers and industry stakeholders. Furthermore, we organized bilateral events and developed partnerships on a European level. At our showroom we regularly welcomed international delegations and presented the latest developments and innovations of the German Smart Data applications. To allow the comparison of different approaches towards the development of AI technologies, we provided an overview on the key points of selected international AI strategies. Smart Data Forum was funded by the BMWi, developed in cooperation with the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) and was managed by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
