Zusammenfassung

In this article we describe a semantic extension of event-driven process chains, which make it possible to specify the semantics of individual model elements as is indicated by their label in natural language using the concepts of a formal ontology. To do so, a multi-level approach has been developed which comprises an ontology level, a metadata level, as well as a model level. Relations between these elements are described using both a graphical representation and the accompanying XMLformats. With the approach presented here, we show how semantic web technologies can be used to reason about process models leading to improved querying and validation possibilities.
