If you use a Debian variant (Debian, Ubuntu...) try to install a newer
version.
like:
sudo apt-get install ruby1.9.1
sudo apt-get install rubygems1.9.1
then make sure that on a non-sources shell ruby is the right version by
calling
ruby --version
otherwise (or to make sure) call update alternatives to set ruby and the
rubygems to the newest version
sudo update-alternatives --config ruby
sudo update-alternatives --config gem
Your're welcome,
Matthias
